Resident Feedback sessions for Riverside and Outhwaite -- watch for details
Carver Outhwaite Back to School event sponsored by CMHA featured School Supplies, literature tables. Celebrity guests including CMHA's CEO Jeffery Patterson. But the big hit of the day was that 25 children were tested for lead inside the Outhwaite Community Center. Thanks MetroHealth--even without the Health Bus the team was great. Children who were tested got Runs Better Unleaded T-shirts (courtesy of Ohio Department of Health) and parents got home cleaning supplies. About 45 families stopped by the CLASH table and picked up more lead safe info, filled out surveys, and held deep discussions about health justice. Dr. Chantal, Rev. Darrick and Plain old Spencer were there!

Alas, the Back to School event at Old Cedar Estates was cursed by cloudy skies and rain showers. Metro was unable to do child testing at the site. CLASH got rained out too. We're hopeful this will get rescheduled.
At Riverview Apartments the CWRU Seniors Health Fair was held indoors. Renee and Torria from NEOCH were tablers with lots of CMHA related information about lead safety. 30 residents signed up
Andre, Darrick and Spencer provided Lead Safe Information to King Kennedy Residents at Family Fun Day, sponsored by Beech Brook. We answered a lot of questions and gathered 12 sign ups and 12 Resident Surveys in the four hour event. Plenty of families with children.

Health Fair at Scranton Castle on April 17, 2025. About 22 residents attended the Health Fair. Three residents completed surveys and 8 signed up for more information. Thanks to CWRU Med School for hosting the event.
March 20, 2025. Addison Square residents had a health fair on Thursday. Great turn out. Five sign-ups and six CMHA Resident surveys! Many guests at our table told us they would share this leadsafe info with their children who have children. A couple senior residents brought the grands to the table.
June 27, 2025. Cedar High Rise residents turned out for a Health Fair despite the heat! A whopping 32 CMHA Resident surveys were completed! Darrick, Molly and Spencer had some indepth discussions with residents and promised to come back again soon.
On June 18, 2025, Ambleside Towers Local Advisory Council hosted CLASH for a lead presentation. About 40 tenants and 10 CMHA staff attended the two hour event...which included lunch. Fifteen of the attendees filled out Resident surveys. Spencer explained that since Ambleside was built in 1978, the year that lead was outlawed in paint, there is a presumption that the building is free of paint hazards. But paint is not the only source of lead. Advocates need to be conscious of lead in pipes, soil (from leaded gasoline) and air pollution. Rev. Wade recounted stories of lead impacts on the children in Lakeview and the connection between childhood lead poisoning and adolescent interactions with law enforcement.
